Instinct
In is the abbreviation of Instinct; it is represented by two letters so that it is not confused with the abbreviation of Intuiting. When the two letters are combined, it becomes the identity of an intelligence engine. Based on the concept of STIFIn, there are only five kinds of intelligence engines, and In is one of the five. This intelligence engine does not have an intelligence drive (introvert and extrovert). This is because physically, the middle brain that belongs to In does not have a layer of grey and white matter. Therefore, In serves as both an intelligence engine and genetic personality.
- The Brain’s Operating System
A simple definition of Instinct is a type of intelligence or genetic personality that is based on the seventh sense (instinct). The way the brain works for the In type is automatic because it does not have an intelligence drive. The operating system for this type is located in the middle brain. The middle brain supports the entire system as much as the other four parts of the brain. If the middle brain is strong, then at some point it can help strengthen the other four parts of the brain. This is mostly because the middle brain connects all the other parts of the brain so the processes of coordination and harmonization.
The result of not having an intelligence drive makes the middle brain give spontaneous reactions to every stimulus that is received. Even though the nerve reaches the middle brain first before spreading to the other four parts of the brain, that does not mean that those four parts are not involved in the response process. The coordination process is holistic even without the intelligence drives, which is shown in the way all the parts of the brain responds collectively toward every stimulus that is received.
- Physical Topology
The intelligence engine In is identical with reflexesy have fast reflexes. The reflex that originates from the holistic process makes this type very adaptable.
Even physically, the In type has the ability to adapt well to the environment. In a mental situation like the Sensing type, it will adapt as the Sensing type does. The same goes for all other parts of the brain.
The In type generally has a flat body shape, marked by a straight shoulder line and a short neck with the midbrain closest to the spinal cord. At the same time, the midbrain supports the other parts of the brain, and this allows this type to have an all-round functional ability. This all-round functional ability, combined with the strength of reflexes makes this type survive in every type of environment and every type of profession.
- Unique Characteristics
When using the perspective of behavioral psychology, the personality of this type must have a unique characteristic that can be measured and proven different from the other eight personalities. There are ten items that can prove its existence an allow for it to be measured psychometrically.
Based on the STIFIn concept, the ten items make the personality permanent/constant and exist throughout the lifespan.
As a whole personality, this type has diametral sides, such as, a great spiritualist but also an individual who is fierce and temperamental, with sharp instincts and good at making assumptions, but skeptical and lacks principles. This type always wants to be peaceful and happy but lacks assertiveness.
Besides that, this type is very responsive, fast, and comprehensive, but in the context ad hoc and lacks long term thinking, honest and innocent but usually naïve. Hence, this type must be aware of their weaknesses and try to exploit their strengths. Usually, when the strengths develop properly, the weaknesses are automatically covered.
- Strengths
The personality of this type has a uniqueness: the ability to sacrifice for the greater good. This strength can be matched with the AQ (Altruist Quotient).
If this type works calmly and peacefully, then one of the other abilities will work: having the third eye to see a different perspective of an event. The results of the third-eye observation are: the ability to see the hidden meaning in every event, the ability to spiritually make sense of every event, or gain important information from the seventh sense of this type.
In the context of managing finances, the In type feels sad if they cannot help other people in need. The tendency of this type towards money is to always feel the need to help other people. As a result, they seem to be losing money not for themselves but for helping other people.

The natural chemistry of the In type is to always be happy. They only feel comfortable in life if the situation is full of happiness and problem-free. If that happiness is achieved, then this type begins to work on other aspects of life.
On the other side, the In type will feel unhappy if they do not have any roles in life. The success of this type is marked by the roles they carry out for the general well-being. The bigger their role in life, the happier they are.

The all-round ability and physical adaptational ability make the In type always want to take the role of “the partner” for other types. Even though they have to become the second person in the partnership, this type doesn’t really mind.

The most painful situation this type can face is rejection from their environment. Their adaptability helps them to contribute more to the environment.

The sincerity of the In type to always help and contribute makes other people give a good personal brand to this type. This type realizes that if they do not have a role anywhere, they will lose meaning in life. The quantity of their role is high. It is as though this type is pulled toward all corners of the environment.
Behind a high quantity of roles for this type, it is a challenge for the In type to handle all the roles well, so the quality of the roles are also high. The brand of the In type will be lifted if both the quantity and the quality of the roles are high.

The process of learning for this type is very different from the other personality types. Other personality types have a tendency to learn inductively, whereas the In type has the tendency to learn deductively, which means the general idea is formed before breaking it down into detailed parts.
Therefore, when reading a book, this type always finds the summary or the general idea first, and then breaks down the details. While learning, this type can be helped with a calm and peaceful atmosphere supported by soft background music.
